Born in Austin, Made with Fire

A bold spin on Chinese food, rooted in tradition and turned up with Texas swagger

How It All Started on Austin’s East Side

I opened Old Thousand at 1000 E 11th St because I wanted to create the kind of Chinese restaurant I grew up loving—but with a fresh take. I’ve always had a deep connection to Chinese-American food. It’s comfort food to me. When I moved to Austin, I didn’t see many spots mixing tradition with something new. So, I built one.

A Neighborhood Spot with Big Flavor

Old Thousand was never meant to be fancy or exclusive. It’s a come-as-you-are spot where the music is loud, the energy is high, and the food always hits. Whether you’re grabbing dinner with friends or ordering online for the couch, we want to be your go-to.

Why You Should Stop By

We built Old Thousand for people who love Chinese food and want something new. Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, we want you to feel at home. Come hungry, come curious, and we’ll take care of the rest.
